How Coverage Works

A satellite can only serve users that are above its horizon and within its antenna beam. For LEO constellations like Starlink, satellites move so quickly that coverage is best understood as the density of satellites overhead at any moment. For geostationary satellites the footprint is fixed: each one sees about one third of Earth.
